Tour Details

The two-day trip to Lake Titicaca in Puno offers an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in the culture and traditions of the region. It includes an overnight stay at a local family home on Amantani Island.

Similar to the half-day and day trips, this journey also starts with a visit to the Uros Floating Islands. The Uros Islands are a unique and must-see attraction, not only in the country but also in all of South America.

Amantani Island is home to two peaks known as “Pacha Tata” and “Pacha Mama,” where you can explore archaeological remains and centers of worship and culture. The island’s abundant natural beauty offers captivating landscapes that contrast with the vastness of Lake Titicaca.

Taquile Island maintains its distinct charm, as the local inhabitants have preserved their age-old traditions and customs.

Lake Titicaca is easily accessible from Cusco. Puno is the nearest major city to Lake Titicaca, and regular buses operate between Cusco and Puno. The Juliaca Airport is the closest airport to Puno and Lake Titicaca, with a short flight of approximately 40 minutes from Cusco.

Alternatively, you can experience the scenic train ride from Cusco to Puno, with the Andean Explorer Train being a renowned and popular choice for this journey.

Day 1Puno - Uros - Amantani

At 7:45 in the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel in Puno and head to the boat pier. After a brief introduction from the guide, we will begin the journey with a short boat ride to the Uros Floating Islands, built using totora grass. Our guide will provide a detailed tour, explaining the island-building process. You will be warmly welcomed by the locals, who will introduce you to their traditions and culture.

After exploring the Uros Island, we will travel to Amantani Island. Upon arrival, the locals will greet and welcome you. Our guide will introduce you to the host family.

After having lunch at their home, you will have free time to explore the fields and experience their way of life. In the evening, the group will hike to Pacha Tata and Pacha Mama peaks, considered sacred. Enjoy an enchanting sunset view from the top.

At night, after dinner, you will be invited to the community hall to enjoy live Andean folkloric music.

Day 2Amantani - Taquile - Puno

At 7:00 in the morning, after breakfast, we will walk back to the boat pier and board the boat to Taquile Island. The journey takes approximately two and a half hours from Amantani.

Upon arrival on Taquile Island, we will hike up the hill to a viewpoint. Our guide will provide a detailed tour, introducing you to the life and culture of the Taquileños.

Taquile Island is renowned for its craft production, particularly its beautiful textiles. Although narrow, only about 1 km wide, the island stretches about 6 to 7 km in length and boasts numerous pre-Inca and Inca ruins and terracing.

After lunch, we will return to Puno, and the tour concludes around 4:30 PM.
