Sacred Valley Bike Tour (Full Day)

The tour vehicle will drop you near the Huaypo lagoon, close to the town of Chincheros. This is where the bike tour commences. We will traverse country roads, crossing the plateau of Maras until we reach the Moray ruins (3,450 m/11,3189 ft). You will have the opportunity to observe Andean farmers at work, and this route will undoubtedly provide numerous interactions with the local population. The renowned circular terraces of Moray are believed to have functioned as an agricultural research laboratory during the Inca era. The Incas harnessed temperature variations between each terrace (approximately 1.5 degrees Celsius/34.70 degrees Fahrenheit) and established a sophisticated irrigation canal system to cultivate crops in each depression they created. Across the Sacred Valley, you can admire the unparalleled panorama of the “Veronica” (5682m) and “Chicon” (5530m) snow-capped peaks of the Urubamba and Vilcabamba mountain ranges. You will then explore the charming town of Maras, known as the “Town of Portals,” characterized by its exquisite colonial church dominating the landscape. Here, the long descent to the Urubamba River begins. As you emerge from one of the bends in the descending road within a reddish canyon, the dazzling white of the salt mines will astonish you. The view of the numerous salt terraces that have been in use for centuries is truly awe-inspiring. Descend to the sacred river where your transportation will await you at the Tarabamba bridge.
