Short Inca Trail is the best alternative to the 4 Days Classic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Our Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is a family friendly excursion. There is no arduous high altitude hikes as the Class Inca Trail or need to spend nights camping in no mans land. We have crafted our Short Inca Trail in such a way that you will be reaching Aguas Calientes Town (Machu Picchu Pueblo) on the first night itself and will sleep in a comfortable ensuite hotel room.
The best part – Unlike the Classic Inca Trail, the short Inca Trail won’t need a six – seven months advance booking. We have designed the Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu itinerary quite thoughtfully to give you a glimpse of the Classic Inca Trail in a much easier and a convenient manner.
Cusco Hotel Transfer
We will be picking you up from your hotel in Cusco. Then in our private transport, we will transfer you to Ollantaytambo Train Station. Here you will be boarding the train to Km 104, the trail head. It is named after its distance from Cusco en-route to Aguas Calientes.
Here you will have to present your original passport along with the Inca Trail permit to the officials. We will then begin the Two Day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.
Hiking along the course of Urubamba river, we will visit an Inca site, Chacha bamba. It is located 2250 meters above the sea level. Our local expert will give you a guided tour.
We will then continue the Short Inca Trail to the renowned Incan archeological site, Wiñay Wana. This played a significant role during the Inca civilization. Our guide will explain its prominence to Incas. Here we will stop for lunch.
After relishing on the box lunch, we will continue the trail to Intipunku (Sungate). From here, you will get first views of Machu Picchu. We will be spending some time here. You will also get to see the sunset from here.
We will then descend through the cloud forests to Aguas Calientes. You will be accommodated in an ensuite hotel room for the night in Aguas Calientes. Later in the evening, we will meet for dinner.
Before leaving from the hotel in Aguas Calientes, the staff will hand you over a snack box. You will then be boarding a bus to Machu Picchu citadel. It takes around 25 minutes to reach Machu Picchu from Aguas Calientes by bus. Upon reaching the main entrance of Machu Picchu, our guide will assist you to clear the security control.
Once inside the citadel, you will see the golden rays of sun beaming on the walls of Machu Picchu.
Our local guide would give you a complete two hours tour. You will get to know many astonishing facts. After the tour, you will have some free time to walk around. If you have booked your hike to Huyana Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain, our guide will assist you to the entrance. Alternatively, you can visit the Inca bridge.
After the tour, you will be taking the bus back to Aguas Calientes. At a mentioned time, you will be boarding the train to Ollantaytambo. Once in Ollantaytambo, we will be picking you up from the train station and will be transferring you back to your hotel in Cusco.
