The Sun Route offers a unique way to travel between Cusco and Puno, or vice versa.
The Sun Route bus service allows you to experience the renowned “Ruta del Sol.” The trip covers almost 400 km between the two cities, starting from Cusco to Puno or the other way around.
The Sun Route from Cusco or Puno includes five stops. You will visit the Sistine Chapel of Andahuaylillas, Raqchi Temple, and have a lunch break in the village of Sicuani. Continuing on the Sun Route to Puno, you will stop at La Raya, a beautiful Andean hot springs resort, and Pucara, known as “the temple of fertility.”

Andahuaylillas is home to the “Sistine Chapel of the Americas”. While the whitewashed church may not seem quite attractive on the outside, this 17th-century church features stunning interiors. We will be stopping here for around 25 minutes.

The Archeological Site of Raqchi is dedicated to Wiracocha or Viracocha. According to Incan mythology, Wiracocha rose from Lake Titicaca. He is the creator of the Universe. Incas believe that Viracocha made the sun, stars and the moon. Here we will be spending 40 minutes.
Entrance Fees: 15 Soles.
Peru is renowned as the gastronomic capital of the Americas, and your trip would not be complete without savoring authentic Peruvian cuisine. During our journey, we will make a stop for lunch at an authentic Peruvian restaurant in Sicuani, where you will enjoy a buffet lunch with options available for vegans.
La Raya Pass is situated at an impressive altitude of 4,355 meters above sea level, marking the border between Cusco and Puno. The view from La Raya Pass is truly breathtaking, offering a stunning perspective of the renowned Chimboya Glacier. It is fascinating to note that the Amazon River is believed to originate from the Chimboya Glacier. We will make a brief stop here for approximately 10 minutes, allowing you to take in the awe-inspiring scenery.
The Pukara Museum is dedicated to the Pukara civilization, believed to have thrived between 1600 BC and 400 AD. Inside the museum, you will find a remarkable collection of sculptures and potteries from this ancient civilization. Our stop here will last for approximately 30 minutes, giving you the opportunity to explore and learn more about the fascinating history and artistry of the Pukara people.
Entrance Fees: 10 Soles
At around 0500 PM we will be reaching the Puno bus terminal.
